What is Family Counseling?

Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that helps family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. Family therapy is usually provided by a psychologist, clinical social worker or licensed therapist. (Mayo Clinic Definition)

Whats the point?

Family counseling brings together members of a family to work through situations or relationship issues. Concerns may include changes in family relationships, conflict, health issues, addiction or for a variety of other reasons. Counselors help the family recognize their patterns, build on the positive and develop alternative responses, providing all the family members a voice in the process.
