Job Summary

BHRS are behavioral health remedial services which are necessary to improve the member's ability to function in the community. This service may include the Evidence Based Practice of Illness, Management, and Recovery and/or DMHSAS supportive services (assistance with the development of problem-solving and decision making skills to maintain or achieve optimal functioning within the community).

Clinical Restrictions

 This service is generally performed with only the members, but may include a member and the member's family/support system group that focuses on the member's diagnosis, management, and recovery based curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Work with individuals, families, and/or groups to promote optimum functioning within the community.  This might include but is not limited to children, adolescents, and/or adults.
  2. Demonstrate professional attitude, preparation and communication for delivery of needed services such as but not limited to:
  3. These services are performed to improve the skills and abilities of members to:
  4. Maximize clinical time, behavioral techniques, and environment to promote person centered services, safety, as well as professional boundaries while in session.
  5. Collaborate and consult with Clinical Director, Administrative Director, and lead therapist who administer clinical assessments, develop diagnosis, and create individualized treatment goals and objective relevant and sensitive toward cultural competency.
  6. Act as client advocate in order to maintain client rights or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  7. Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
  8. Maintain client records in clear, concise, ethical, treatment plan compatible and timely format.
  9. Attend educational trainings offered by SoCBHS, Inc and/or other community agencies that are mandated to promote and maintain compliance with accrediting agencies, licensure rules and regulations, and SoCBHS, Inc’s policies and procedures.

  4. Maintain appropriate social skills to include culturally sensitive language, interactions, as well as a well-groomed appropriate dress code,

  6. Computer and Internet skills,
  7. Professional communication, multicultural awareness, and ethical attitudes,
  8. Communicate to the public the positive significance of Behavioral Health Services,
  9. Read, abide by, and maintain SoCBHS, Inc.’s policy and procedures that have been adopted by organization,
  10. Cooperative and considerately work with organization personnel,
  11. Initiating positive contributions to the improvement of the clinical program,
  12. Initiate guidance, help, and/or consultation when needed.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor degree or above, and ODMHSAS training as a Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist; or 2) CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner) credential; or 3) Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and 4) certified as a Case Manager I or II
  2. Has a letter from ODMHSAS stating was grandfathered in as a BHRS under Fiscal Year 2010 requirements and
  3. Has 1 year experience in psycho-social, education, and/or behavioral health related field.
  4. A BHRS, AODTP, or LBHP may perform BHR Services, following a treatment curriculum approved by an LBHP or AODTP for AOD. Staff must be appropriately trained in a recognized behavioral/management intervention program such as Person/Client Centered Methods, MANDT, CAPE, trauma informed, or other methodology.

Supervisor Relationships

The BHRS will directly report to the Clinical Director, or Administrative Director and will maintain relationships as outlined in SoCBHS’s policies and procedures.
