About Joshua

Josh is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Oklahoma State University and his Master’s of Education in Pyschology-Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma. Josh has experience working in a school system implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Other areas of experience include working for a Level E group home as well as specialty training at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center Child Study Center in developmental evaluations, working with children with problematic sexual behaviors, and children with opposition and defiance while being trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

He is a qualified PCIT therapist and has experience working children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and ODD, as well as a variety of other diagnoses (Anxiety, Depression, ODD, CD, Trauma exposure, and more). Josh also worked in a Child Trauma Lab while at Oklahoma State University and has experience implementing trauma-informed therapy. During his internship, he worked assessing children with prenatal substance exposure and referring to resources to help caregivers of these children. Josh strives to implement Evidence Based Treatments with both children and adults free of judgement.

His main treatment approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment implementing connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to create attainable goals with the client. Josh is also trained and certified in Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (PSB-CBT), an evidence based treatment approach for children with sexual behavior difficulties.

 

First Responders: Joshua has also more recently completed work in helping first responders and their families. These services include helping with experienced traumas, ongoing stress management, integrating family life with high demand career, and many other areas first responders face.
